PROJECT MANAGER: 400 Years of the Telescope Content & Service

Position: Full-time, exempt, 18-month contract position
Compensation: Salary, plus benefits package

Position Summary:

SOPTV is seeking an experienced project manager to oversee and coordinate activities between public television stations and planetariums in 8-10 cities in the United States and manage a marketing grant program for participating public television stations.

Working Conditions:

Typical office environment which includes extended periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer. Requires flexible working hours and involves travel to PBS meetings and selected public television stations and planetariums.

Qualifications

• Required:
  • Successful history of project management with specific results
  • Strong communication skills including diplomacy, negotiating, writing correspondence, and oral presentations to individuals and groups
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to work under pressure on a number of projects simultaneously
  • Ability to project a professional demeanor and be successful working in a team environment
  • Able to deliver projects on or under budget
  • Ability to follow all policies established by the company
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Must be available to travel and to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Must maintain valid Oregon driver's license and insurance
• Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field
  • Experience working with public television stations
  • Experience working with partners on community outreach projects
  • Experience coordinating events
  • Experience managing large government grants
